I always try to tell people about my Blog and the things I have recently written about and quite often I get asked what they can do to get updates when I write a new post.
I figured that if they are asking this, there might be other people out there with the same question.
So here are some simple and effective ways to follow my Blog:
1. Email subscription: For those who aren’t on the social networking scene, this is a great method to follow my Blog. Every new post I write will be delivered directly to your inbox. You just have to click the “Subscribe” button at the top of the sidebar and you will get an email asking you to confirm your request. —>
2. RSS: My Blog has an RSS feed that you can easily add to Google Reader, Blackberry News or any other RSS reader you use. Simple and effective, all posts will be pushed to your Reader as soon as I hit the Publish button.
3. Facebook Page: Back in September of 2011 I created a Facebook Page for my Blog. You can head over there and click the “Like” button at the top of the page and get notified of new posts and Blog milestones right in your feed.
4. Google+ Page: Last month I made following my Blog even easier with the creation of a Google+ page. Just like the Facebook Page, if you add my Blog to your Circles you will get notified of new posts and Blog milestones in your feed.
5. Twitter: I had my Twitter account before starting this Blog and it was Tweeps like @chile_pepper and her Blog Anthing and Nothing that ultimately inspired me to start a Blog. Not only will you have new posts and Blog milestones in your timeline but you can also interact with me directly, especially during Habs games. Don’t talk to me about the leafs though, they really suck and I hate them. Because it’s Toronto.
6. BBM ChannelWith BlackBerry’s recent push to make BBM a new social platform instead of being limited to being a messaging app I was compelled to create a BBM Channel. Click here for the instructions on subscribing to my channel.
Hey everyone, just a small post to let you all know that I have now created a BBM Channel for my blog. If you are part of the BlackBerry Beta program you can grab the latest Beta update for BBM. You may or may not have heard that BlackBerry is planning on going cross-platform with BBM. It also seems like they want to expand BBM to more than just a messaging app, by adding BBM Pages they can compete with other social networking apps.
You can subscribe to my BBM Channel by inserting this pin: C000161D8 or by scanning this bar-code:
When planning our wedding we wanted to make sure everyone had a good time. For us that meant keeping them on the dance floor as much as possible.
That also meant we would need to find a DJ to provide some music during the band’s intermissions. We contracted them to provide pre-ceremony music, our processional music, cocktail music etc… as well as an Emcee.
One thing I wanted to have from our Emcee was the ability to speak Portuguese for the older generations of my family that would be attending our nuptials.
As you can imagine, choosing to have a Portuguese speaking Emcee narrowed our choices down some. Narrowed it right down to four to be exact.
I’ll be honest and say that Uptown Xpress was the last one we looked at but only because we were looking in the wrong places.
Our first choice turned us down without even asking for a specific date. We were told that they were too popular for last-minute bookings (apparently 6 months is last-minute and that company claims to have a year and a half waiting list).
Second search query was stricken from our list based on feedback from family members who had previously made use of his services.
The third DJ was actually found at around the same time as Uptown Xpress. What made the difference was DJ Stefan Jez, the owner of the company.
The owner of the third company required us to go out of our way early Saturday morning to meet with him at a Tim Horton’s on Decarie after I told him that taking public transit all the way to RDP for a 30 minute sit-down was out of the question. He was also hesitant to work with the band stating: “We’ll try, but they might not be as good as what we can provide.”
Meanwhile Stefan was more than willing to travel from Dorval to meet at our place in LaSalle. Right off the bat we meshed well with Stefan, he was honest with us and willing to work with our band.
Also, when we met with the owner and Portuguese Emcee of the third company, we learned that the Emcee had a lisp. No offense to anyone reading this who might have a lisp, but an Emcee with a lisp making announcements at the most important event of our lives was the last thing that my wife and I wanted.
What also helped convince us to choose Uptown Xpress was the great reviews at WeddingWire. We have also posted a review on the website, you can find our review as well as the others by clicking here.
The final thing that convinced us was the Uptown Xpress YouTube channel that serves as a portfolio of sorts. Stefan films at various points of the night and then edits them into a quick video. Ours is now up for your viewing pleasure:
Once again I would like to thank DJ Stefan Jez and Johnny for the great job they did that night. I’ve been told that it’s not always easy for a DJ to follow a band, but these guys pulled it off.
If you’re planning a wedding or any other even in the Montreal area that requires a DJ, I highly recommend that you check them out.
I got another tattoo done this week and this one is very important to me. I got married this past April 27th and I have to admit that it was the happiest moment of my life.
I also started working as an electrician 7 months ago, and of course I can’t wear my gold wedding band as I work. The obvious reason being that gold is one of the best conductors of electricity.
The ring itself is very dear to me as it was my dad’s ring. He gave it to me because he also can’t wear a ring when he works. I don’t want to risk getting my finger stuck anywhere because of the ring, or damage the ring.
Although I can’t always wear the ring, I wanted to find a way to have something on my finger in lieu of the ring when I take it off.
I decided to get a tattoo. I wanted to get something done on my ring finger to be there whenever I can’t wear the ring. After much thought and consideration of what to do, I settled on our wedding date.
I went back to Dahlia Tattoos in Ville LaSalle, the same place I got my ground symbol done. Once again Meaghan was able to give me what I was looking to get and it turned out great. Without a doubt I recommend her to people looking to get tattooed in Ville LaSalle.
On top of always having something on my ring finger to symbolize our marriage, I now have no excuse to forget out anniversary.
