The Montreal Juniors were back home at Verdun Auditorium after a two game road trip in Rouyn-Noranda and Val D’Or. Montreal Canadiens first-rounder draft pick Louis Leblanc put on quite the show getting on the score sheet with one goal and three assists
By defeating the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2 the Juniors earned themselves a third win in four days. It was also Montreal’s fourth consecutive win, handing Halifax their sixth straight loss.
Halifax jumped to a quick lead while on a powerplay in the first period after forward Brett Andrews was able to capitalize on a terrible turnover be Montreal’s defense to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Juniors forward Jean-Christophe Laflamme got one by Mooseheads goaltender Anthony Terenzio to tie the game at 1, but the Mooseheads who were all over Montreal in the first period lit the lamps once again on the powerplay. Charles Bety’s goal made it a one goal game going into the second period.
But the Devision leading Juniors brought the house down with three goals (Louis Leblanc, Tampa Bay Lightning’s prospect Charles Landry, new acquisition Raphaël Pouliot) in 4 minutes during the second period and Matt Provost added the fifth and final goal in the third period.
- Matt Provost scored his second goal of the season.
- Montreal backup goaltender Étienne Marcoux stopped 19 shots in his second start in three games.
- Mooseheads goaltender Anthony Terenzio was pulled and was replace by Fred Piche.
