The Montreal Juniors held onto a 2-0 lead in the first period of the game until the Foreurs de Val d’Or came back into the game scoring 4 unanswered goals, three of them scored in the last three and a half minutes of the third period. The Foreurs went on to win the game 4-2 in what was overall a very exciting game at Verdun Auditorium.
Louis Leblanc played a great game involved in both of his team’s tallies, setting up his captain Nicolas Chouinard for the team’s first goal and then scoring the second goal on a beautiful break from his own defensive zone.
Jean-Francois Berubé played a good game despite letting in 3 goals in a three minute time span stopping 23 of the 27 shots on net by the Foreurs. He looked very strong and confident throughout most of the game.
Matt Provost enjoyed extended ice time in today’s game and took this opportunity to show the coaching staff his worth by playing a solid defensive game. He got in two great hits and although he mistimed what would have been a bone crushing hit he was able to get back and correct his mistake. He had two shots on net and posted a plus/minus of -2 for today’s game.
Olivier Archambault scored the first goal for Val d’Or, Guillaume Naud scored 2, and Thierry Comptois scored the last tally. After a somewhat disappointing first period, Val d’Or hit the ice for the second thirsty for a win after having lost 4-3 in overtime to the Remparts de Quebec the night before. Comptois finished the game with three points on the score sheet.
Despite dominating throughout most of the game, the Montreal Juniors lost their third game in regulation time this season, dropping down one spot to sit at third in the TELUS Western Division of the QJMHL.
