QJMHL Victoriaville Tigers vs. Montreal Junior: Game Review


The Montreal Junior beat the Victoriaville Tigers by a score of 5-2 tonight. Earning Pascal Vincent his 400th career victory as a head coach in the Québec Junior Major Hockey League.

The only others to reach this plateau in the QJMHL are Richard Martel (585), Guy Chouinard (569), Réal Paiement (520), Gaston Drapeau (440) and Ghislain Delage (430).

Vincent (39 years) and Delage (36 years) are the only ones to have done so before age 40.

In tonigt’s historic win, David Rose and Denis Kindl scored two goals each for the winners. Rose added two assists. Jean-Christophe Laflamme scored the other tally for Montreal and team Captain Nicolas Chouinard continues to lead by example showing his “team first” mentality putting up three assists on the score-sheet.

The Montreal Juniors seem to be on a hot streak at home as of late having lost only one of their last 11 home games.

Goalie Jean-François Bérubé was bombarded with 31 shots.

Other notes:

  • Juniors’ forward Micheal Clarke played his first game since November 10th and got an assist finishing the night with a +1.
  • The Tigers had scored 20 goals in their last two games before the Christmas break.
  • Victoriaville’s goals came from leading scorer in the league Philip-Michaël Devos and Carl-Antoine Delisle. Goalie Antonio Mastropietro has made 28 saves
