In the first period of Tuesday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres, we saw quite a few injuries. The Montreal Canadiens have since then called up two centermen; Andreas Engqvist (6’04’’, 197 lbs) and Ryan White (6’00’’, 198 lbs) from the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Engqvist, 23 years old, played 38 games with the Bulldogs this season, registering 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) and took part in the team practice on Thursday, at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. He has one power play goal and tallied 73 shots so far this season he has a +5 average and 10 penalty minutes. Engqvist will play this weekend when the Habs visit the Senators Friday and then come home to host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
The 22 year old Ryan White played 16 games with the Habs last year (his first NHL game was against Boston on November 5th). He recorded two assists and five shots on goal, while averaging 11:09 minutes of ice time per game. Ryan White will play in Cammalleri’s place with the Canadiens in Ottawa, for tomorrow’s game against the Senators at Scotiabank Place.
White has amassed 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 28 games in Hamilton this year. Like Engqvist he also has one power play goal. So far he has had 55 shots on goal and earned 64 penalty minutes.
Pacioretty will be back in the line-up after having suffered through a Wizniewski slap shot from the point on Tuesday’s game against the Sabers. Pouliot will also be back after missing two games due to a virus. Cammalleri on the other hand is now on the injured reserve list. He is the only one to be placed on IR after all the injuries.
These seem like good moves short term. But what if Cammalleri needs surgery? Will General Manager Pierre Gauthier make a trade? What do you think?
My Line Predictions
In other news Josh Gorges underwent a successful surgery on his right knee Wednesday. He should be back in time for next years training camp.
