NBC’s Blunder

The Twitter account for NHL on NBC Sports had to face quite a bit of scrutiny yesterday after they tweeted one of the most erroneous “facts” I’ve seen in a while.

As you can see from the first screen shot, they deleted what they posted. The tweet in question was one stating that Patrick Roy has won The Cup in three decades with three different teams and asked who can guess which three teams.

Luckily I was still able to take a screen shot of my reply for your viewing pleasure. Was I too condescending?

As you all know I also write spanish articles for allhabs.net. One thing that is made clear to all writers and contributors is that if we want to write or say something, we have to have the facts to back it up.

We don’t want to make mistakes of the sort. Sports networks can’t allow themselves to have inaccuracies like the one NBC Tweeted. They need to be on the ball when it comes to trivia and stats or they can lose credibility quickly. Especially because they are supposed to be a trusted source for those kinds of things.
